D4wnatello Releases New Single “Actress,” Marking the Beginning of a Bold New Creative Chapter

Toronto, Ontario — August 27, 2026 — Nigerian-born, Toronto-based rapper and songwriter D4wnatello is set to release his latest single, “Actress,” on September 18, 2026, ushering in a new chapter in his evolving artistry. Blending the energy of Toronto hip-hop with Afrobeat influences, D4wnatello has been steadily carving out his own space in Toronto’s music scene. Signed to SageBoi Empire Inc., the independent Toronto label behind his artist development, D4wnatello has continued to sharpen his songwriting, storytelling, sound, and creative identity.

“Actress” is a confident, playful and personal hip-hop record inspired by a real person and a real experience. The song explores attraction, connection and admiration through vivid imagery, humour, wordplay and melody, built around the central idea of a woman whose beauty and presence reminded D4wnatello of an actress. “Actress isn’t just another song to me. It represents a period of growth in my artistry and the beginning of a new creative direction.” The record begins with bold, energetic bars before moving into its infectious recurring hook, “Like an actress,” using the concept as a playground for D4wnatello’s personality and lyrical creativity.

The second verse shifts into a more confident, boastful energy before returning to the song’s central theme. Produced by Twothirtxxn, “

Actress” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Lucy Low Studios, with D4wnatello working alongside creatives including Lucy Low and Chemwolion to develop the record’s distinctive sound.

For D4wnatello, the song represents more than a standalone release. It captures a period in which he was constantly creating, experimenting and gaining a deeper understanding of his artistic identity. “I genuinely don’t think people have heard anything quite like ‘Actress’ before. I’m entering a point where I understand my artistic identity on a deeper level — not just finding my element, but understanding how to consistently create from it.” That evolution comes after a strong period of development for the young artist. In 2025, D4wnatello’s single “Chicken Change” surpassed 100,000 Spotify streams, showcasing his lyrical ability, energetic delivery and storytelling.

He also expanded his live profile by opening Toronto shows for international Nigerian artists including Ruger, Chike and Johnny Drille. Now, with “Actress,” D4wnatello is inviting listeners into what comes next. The single is the first step into a new creative chapter — one built around individuality, experimentation, personality, and a sound he believes is uniquely his own.
